Coke Soda Can Tiger Lily by Christine-Eige Coke Soda Can Tiger Lily by Christine-Eige
Alrighty guys - this was a very small commission i got to do for a Coke-a-cola collector. This is a small-sized tiger lily made entirely from soda cans. the couple i did this for collects anything and everything "coke" - they were amazed with my work! they found my work at my art-booth "Recycled Rarities"

in this case, i used Coke cans, along with a few others. though you cant see it in this picture, this flower is housed in a small coke glass - and filled with glass shards.

funny story about how i got the "recycled" glass - i found it in a hospital parking lot. someone had a bad experience with their doctor and bashed out his windshield. Im going to leave the hospital name and the doctors name anonymous, lol.

hope you guys like it!

When i opened my messages and saw this flower (which caught my attention immediately) all i could say was "ooooh". Not exactly words of a poet but it really stuck out to me. I love the swirling design on the petals from the coca-cola logo. The bright red color is vibrant and attention-grabbing. I personally love that you used these cans to make this type of flower rather than another rose (even though the roses are my favorite). It's good to see the same medium in a different way!

yea i fail at critique (i need premium for that) but at least the comment is basically the same w.o all the bells and whistles. and "i appreciate it a lot!" is a great compliment to me because we all like to be appreciated ^.^

Idk much of what a good critique consists of and idk what you want be specifically talked about so I will do my best since you requested one but i don't want to make an ass of myself with this so feel free to hide this if i f*%k this up.

Critique: Ok. So first of all about the coke glass bottle+glass shards. I like first of all that you are thinking about who your client is. The couple is a collector of all things "Coke" if I am understanding correctly. Even though you stated that. So I think that because of the nature of your work and that you made them a Tiger Lily out of Coke cans and you thought to put the flower in a classic glass Coke bottle was perfect for the commission, so kudos on that. Secondly this portion will consist of mainly the petals which are where you can notice the nature of the work. But before that i will say that your detail work is great and detail work is always appreciated (well at least by me [bias person]). So the petals I see are of course made of the Coke cans but at first glance people might say "ohh well where are the letters" and I will say honestly I did the same. But, that is partly what makes it the unique work it is. I can see "Coc" of "Coca Cola" and i see an "a" (from the pictures perspective on the petal on the immediate right). So I think how you arranged the petals may or may not have been purposeful but it works and that what makes it another great piece of unique work.

^.^ i hope that covered what you wanted in a critique. and if you want me to just copy/paste the above as an actual critique to be scored just let me know.

thank you SO much for the comment! if you would like to leave it as an actual critique, feel free too! i wish i had a better photo of this piece though!

thank you so much for looking at the details of this piece - things that i felt like only i noticed! i wanted to make sure that the audience could actually make out the logo - without destroying it too much. :D

thanks so much! really!

i know! i turned out so much better than i thought it would... and the font Coke uses made it look less like a logo, an more like swirls!
