Soda Can Rose - Orange Full by Christine-Eige Soda Can Rose - Orange Full by Christine-Eige
The idea behind my artwork is sustainability.... reduce, reuse, and recycle. The less we have in the landfills, the better! All of my artwork is make from 100% recycled materials - materials that were on their way to a life sentenced to a landfill.

this was a commission done for :iconjjosryo: this little rose is made from orange crush and mountain dew.

im so sorry about the photo quality - it was about to rain! D:

I've seen the collection of your pop can flowers, and I must say they're fantastic!
They seem put together with perfection, and I would probably mistake them for the real thing!
And the idea of using pop cans is simply brilliant, and adds a fun edge to recycling!
It actually makes me want one myself.. ^^
These would make amazing gifts and would look great in a garden!
The detail and elegance is amazing with these, and I really hope you continue to make more.
Maybe I will consider buying one myself someday. :D

I give you 5 stars for every catagory, as I like these - alot!

You need a picture of the front of it! Love the orange color, though. I remember drinking Orange Crush and Grape Crush as a kid. I don't see it as much anymore, though. The orange goes great over vanilla ice cream--tastes like a Creamcicle!

the front of all the roses end up looking similar, but if you are interested in what the top looks like: [link]

Well, you're not really missing much. The only way I could drink it now is by pouring it over vanilla ice cream. Otherwise, it's just too sweet and artificial-tasting and my tastebuds have gotten away from that sort of thing. I used to eat the most awful junk foods as a child. :D

as in "i've got a crush on you" ?
I love it.

I'd like to see how it looks with the color on the top side, instead of thje under side.

These are so cool! Would you ever think about trying to make a tutorial? I know no one could do these as well as you- still the design makes me wonder how you even come up with all these gorgeous creations. I've tried to work with aluminum before- it just curls and cuts my hands up. It really makes me appreciate your work all the more.

i dont think im going to ever post a tutorial, since this is how i make a living :D but either way, thanks! aluminum is, um, different to work with. the original shape of the can makes it hard to work with, since it always wants to bend in on ya.

and believe me. ive had my fair share of cuts because of this art. ive only needed 5 stitches so far, which, for me is a good track record.

huh - i hope it was a good thing that linked you through! :XD:
and thank you! im glad you like it!
its actually not sharp really, onces its cut and bent, it doesnt seem to retain the sharpness. I think it has to deal with the metal not being straight, so it doesnt cut like a blade does. :D
