Description

The idea behind my artwork is a little deeper than some are willing to look. My work is ultimately a critique on the way that we, as a culture and society, interact with our planet. my work is make from littered cans, thus driving my meaning home. Though some might call my work "pretty", it really tricks massive culture. my work is a criticism of our actions. if we continue to behave this way, this might be all we have left.

this red rose was handcrafted entirely from Coke and Mountain Dew soda cans. I decided it would be a good idea to have a collective view point photo. i think i might do this with all my pieces... upload the individuals then do a collective shot.

enjoy!

Here is the critique you requested from #Traditional-Media: Fabulous, what a knock out first impression! What an innovative use of an otherwise discarded material. I love the clever play on Coke’s easily recognizable red trademark. The unfolding petals are wonderful, and you’ve captured such tender details in the leaves. While I love the placement of the Coca-cola white writing on the rose, I feel like the bar code around the stem is poor placement - it breaks up the sculpture, and sort of ruins the illusion for me. It may have been better to cut that piece on more of a diagonal, and construct it more like a toilet paper tube, if that makes sense. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/> But all in all, innovative, charming and well done!
